Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween to all! This is kind of a blah Halloween for us this year. With Davis sick, we plan on pretty much just hangin' out at home this year. Kailee is going Trick or Treating with a friend and Davis and Dad will hang out at home to hand out candy.

I thought I would show you just how much my cuties have grown:


First Halloween together! (I wasn't going to go back the whole 8 years!!!!) Kailee is 4 and Davis is 11 months. This was takin' shortly before we made our move from Chicago to Kansas City. It was so cute to see an 11 month old walking and going door to door trick-or-treating. Kailee had such a ball that night! Their costumes this year fit them to a tee. Davis as a Lion, Kailee as a Princess.










I also couldn't resist adding their first adventure to the Pumpkin Patch:

Raking Leaves

Now, looking at this it doesn't seem to be to bad. In fact, it looks pretty good. Well, Grammi thought it was horrible and with the tree still holding on to half of the leaves, it was time to start rakin':

Davis went straight to town (well for a few minutes, as the school playground across the street was calling their name)

Hmmm. Guess there were more leaves than what I thought.





No, I didn't just walk around and take pictures while everyone else worked. I was given GUTTER duty with only a tiny ladder available.

Seriously, there were way more leaves than what I thought. We spent a few hours raking and ended up with 9 packed full bags. Grammi said last year she ended up with 32 by the time she was done. Now that we have worked, it's time to load up the vans and head to Farmer Marys for a Pumpkin Hunt and Weenie Roast!!!

A Little Fun

After such a crummy day, I thought I would add a few of the just PLAIN fun pictures from our trip.

Davis was tested and confirmed with H1N1 today. Breaks my heart as he has been running high fevers and sleeping all day. He even asked me to carry him into the Doctors office!!! We were sent home with masks, a Tamiflu prescription, and told to keep him out of school for a week. When I asked what to do about Kailee I was told to keep them seperated as Kailee does not quailfy for Tamiflu if she were to get it.

After hitting 3 pharmacy's and dealing with insurance issues we have Tamiflu ready as well as sanitizers, Lysol, Clorox, Sprite, Gatorade, etc. I am tired of all the crumminess and ready for some more fun:


What's more fun than Playdoh?! Brand new, fresh playdoh, with your Grammi to join in! Yep, I call that fun!


WOW! Cool! A New color! "Thanks, Mom for not buying PINK" is what I got from Davis.


Hmmmm... What is she going to make? Do Great Grammi's really know how to play Playdoh?


What? A giraffe? Could it be? Does she really know what she is doing? How many tries did it take?


Well, not quite. Maybe another try...

My favorite Hobby

So, my favorite hobby is houses. I could look at Houses all day everyday. Everyone always talks about their favorite time of the year, well, mine is Parade of Home Season!!!! Just thinking about it gets me all worked up and ready to go. When I get all bored and crazy, I love to drive around and just look at houses.

So, my favorite hobby is houses. If I could, I would just buy a few here and there and collect them like most people with a hobby. My Husband thinks I may be a little crazy, but I am ok with that. Whenever we go visit someplace, I always look at the paper for the houses for sale to see which one I would buy. Then I make my hubby drive me around to them to check them out.

Although Sean was not with me on this past trip, I still looked at the houses for sale in Linoln, KS. I still drove around and picked out the one to buy.


This one is currently on the market in Lincoln. When I was little, I used to tell everyone I was going to buy it since it was down the street from my Great Grandmas and it was so big and awesome. Today, I would still add it to my collection although I would propbably make a few changes. I would love to extend the porch and make it more inviting for sure.



Pretty, hun? I love the location of this one. It is up on a hill (still in the city and not country) with the sun shinning right on it in the morning! Again, I have a few changes in mind for it, but would love to see the inside.




Now this picture does not do the justice it deserves and I apologize for that. This house is located in the Country, Denmark, KS to be exact! In the many years we have traveled to Denmark, I have always loved this house!




WOW! Now we are getting somewhere!!!!! Can you feel the love?! Yes, it needs some work, But how beautiful it would be when it is done!!!!! I would buy this one in a hearbeat (if it was on the market that is)!




And, my most favorite of all!!!! The beauty! It just has that HOME SWEET HOME vibe. I would buy this one again in a heartbeat. Heck, I may even move to Lincoln for this one! To bad it is not for sale...

Back to Our Trip

I want to try and post some more pictures from our latest adventure! The first day in Lincoln was spent at Farmer Marys!! Aunt Mary really isn't a Farmer, or is she:



First I must say that we traveled from the BIG city of Lincoln to Denmark, KS
A little about Denmark:

Denmark is an unincorporated community in Lincoln County, Kansas, United States. One of the first permanent settlements in Lincoln County, it was settled about 1869 by Danish Lutherans who laid the cornerstone for a stone church in 1876. Built of the "post rock" limestone that is so abundant in the county, it was completed in 1880. A bell tower and entry were added in 1901. The village is located 3 miles north of K-18 and still has a community hall, a railroad, and a grain elevator. Denmark is part of "The Amazing 100 Miles". The history and folklore has been described by Ruth Sorensen in "Beyond the Prairie Wind".


Please don't plan on using this beautiful Church in May, it is already reserved for a family wedding!!


I don't think this is still open (?). At least I have never seen it open, please tell me if I am wrong, Andersens!


Here we are, Farmer Mary's! Like I said she really isn't a "Farmer". But, to my kids, she is. Living where we are and traveling to her house my son started calling her Farmer Mary and always asked to visit! I think the Andersens make up the most of the population in the town. If I remember correctly the population is around 20 (give or take a few).

We went to Farmer Mary's to help decorate for Halloween. Our Cousins, Michelle and Devon were still in school for the day so we went to town decorating:
















The kids had more fun playing with all the stuff they found in the boxes, I think they could of stayed there for days! After decorating, Farmer Mary thought they needed a little Hot Cocoa.



I have to thank Mary for all the fun she showed us this day! Kailee and Davis think so much of Farmer Mary and going to the "Farm" that they were so tickled to spend the day there.
