The Hulkster

Why is it I always forget to take pictures of the things that really should be taken? Yesterday afternoon Davis and I had a ball. It started with a little game of Chutes and Ladders (SuperHero Squad Style) which turned into a super competitive, emotional ordeal.

I fear for him in the future. Competition is good. I like competitiveness, but this boy brings it to a whole new level. Here we are playing Chutes and Ladders and I was BLOWN away by it. I was laughing so hard, I was trying everything I could to win, just to watch him sweat...

He was so mad that I won, you could see it all over his face. He was ready to fight! He grabbed his Hulk Hands (The Incredible Hulk he was) and I was SuperMom. After 10 minutes of me beating him down, he ran to Dad and asked, "Why Does SuperMom always win?"

The Mom that I am, immediately spoke up, "Davis, the reason I win is because I eat my vegetables all the time!". To see the look in his eye was simply priceless.

All he wanted for dinner last night was Spinach, Beans, and Brussel Sprouts.

The best part... this morning, after taking Sean to the airport, I thought I would be nice and stop at Dunkin Donuts for the kids. Kailee gets a Chocolate one of course. I ask Davis what he wants.

"Mom, are you eating a donut?"


Me: Yes, I got chocolate. What do you want?

Davis: No Donut for me mom. You go ahead and eat one for me. I will beat you this morning when we play.



(After all the internal laughing, I did order him a egg biscuit)

Kaden Joe is getting SOOOO big!

Can you believe it? Seriously! The boy is up to about 15 pounds! He turns 7 months at the end of December and I am afraid to know how big he is going to be full grown! We were under the understanding that we were blessed with a small dog - HA HA HA!

Well, I guess he is pretty small compared to Alex who is 68 pounds. Kaden is just so darn cute!

Can you say, Dork?

Don't tell me you are not laughing? Seriously! Sean has been spending any free time (which is not much lately) trout fishing. The man is going crazy! Researching the best places, the best time to go, all that crazy fishing stuff!



I guess he has had this hat for years...Good thing he has kept it in hiding from me. :o)








I guess if it takes wearing that hat to catch some trout... Na, what am I saying... I don't like trout!

1.Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?


I choose Swiss Miss Fat Free Hot chocolate. But I am currently in love with Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks!!



2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

Presents must be wrapped!!! When I was little, Santa actually just brought us silly little stocking stuffers, now Santa brings the bigger things for the kids! Christmas is hard for us, since Santa has to come and find us. My Children have NEVER woke up on Christmas morning in their own house to run downstairs to see what Santa left. Santa comes and finds us wherever we are.


3. Colored lights on the tree/house or white.


White on the tree! We do have an small, old tree that has colored lights, but I love how bright and pretty the white are!

We have not put lights up on the house since we have lived in Kansas City, but it is in the plan one day. I am not a big fan of those houses that half-way do lights. If you are going to put them up, put them up! I mean, don't just do your door and that's it. If you start on your roof, do the whole roof, not half...


4. Do you hang mistletoe?


Who needs mistletoe??


5. When do you put up your decorations?


Weeelllll, this one is hard for me! In the past, I was always firm on waiting 'til
after Thanksgiving. But, now that we have to travel for Thanksgiving and then turn around and travel the 2 weeks over Christmas Break - I am changing my theory a little. It seems I am so excited at the beginning of the season and can't wait to get things up, then come Dec. 15th I want it gone.


6. What is your favorite holiday dish?


It might be easier for me to tell you what I don't like... Ummmm.... Hmmmm... Something I don't like????? I don't like nuts in my chocolate! I don't like pecan pie!

I do LOVE and always look forward to my Grammi's Coleslaw!!!!! Not to mention her Chocolate Chip Cookies, and of course, the smoked turkey we get in Ness City. Oh, this list could go forever...


7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?


Playing games with Mom and my brothers on Christmas Eve.


8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?


Whatever do you mean? What truth? I'm confused. Seriously?


9. Do you open a gift on Christmas eve?


We do!!! Now that the kids are older and remember Christmas' we try and have a little just us Christmas which always has to come before we leave town. (This Saturday in fact). This year we will be celebrating Christmas with my side of the family the weekend before Christmas and then we always spend Christmas Eve/Christmas Day with Sean's side, where presents are usually unwrapped on Christmas Eve followed by church or a game of poker. :o)


10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?


Each year, the idea of getting the tree out and decorating is so exciting. Then, you find it, get it out, and... well... it's a lot of work... This year, I just let the kids do it! Sean put it together and the kids decorated! Doesn't look to bad!


11. Snow. Love it? or Dread it?


There is only one time of the year that snow is fun. On Christmas. That's it. It can then go away. I always thought it would be fun to celebrate Christmas on the beach somewhere! Maybe making SAND snowmen!! :)


12. Can you ice skate?


No way! I would call it, Butt skating! HA!


13. Do you remember your favorite gift?


Let's see... Some of the gifts I really remember... I loved playing with baby dolls as a child. I remember getting my first Cabbage Patch kid, with the seat that attaches to the table (like a high chair) for my doll. I remember getting the beauty salon for my barbies.

I will never forget getting the PEE-PEE jeans (remember those, they wear actually called PEPE jeans. But my Grammi and Mother always called them PEE PEE jeans), and of course my first pager! Being 16 and having a pager! Oh, I was so important.

Let's not also forget the beautiful Christmas socks Sean got me one year! I'm telling you, the man is the best at gift giving! HA HA HA! Have you met Sean?


14. What's the most important thing about the holidays to you?


Being around family! I LOVE it! I love the holiday spirit! I truly try each year to make it more about the birth of Jesus.


15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?


Ummmm... Hello?..... Again? I do not like coconut, I do not like nuts in my chocolate and no pecan pie! Other than that - I say BRING IT!


16. What tops your tree?


The past 11 Christmas' has been an Angel. Sean and I bought this Angel the first Christmas in our first house. This year, we had to get a new something. We ended up getting a Star, but I am not found of it. I loved the Angel. The problem was, it was for a small tree, not that we have finally got a bigger tree, we really needed something a little bigger. Christmas clearance is calling my name - on the lookout for a new Angel.


17. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving?


I am completely honest on this one - I LOVE to give!!!! There is something about this time of the year! I want to buy for everyone and want them to have whatever! It is quite sad. But, I truly love watching someone open a gift!


18. What is your favorite Christmas song?

How can you have a favorite?! I LOVE them! The kids are driving me crazy this year with the Alvin and the Chipmunks! I LOVE the hippo song, I like them all!


19. Candy Canes, Yuck or Yum?


YUM-O!!!! I can't believe all the new flavors out there! What ever happened to plain red/white peppermint ones? Don't get me wrong, the Starburst, Jolly Rancher, Cherry, etc. are all great too!!


20. Favorite Christmas Show?


So many to list! My all time favorite that is a must tradition with me and Sean is the Grinch. It has to bee the cartoon version, not the movie. We also love ELF. Not to mention Christmas Vacation and Home Alone...


21. Saddest Christmas Song?

Santa and Toy Boy

Santa and Toy Boy was the best show ever! You have to remember to turn the sound off on the music to listen, but it's worth it!

One of the best memories I have of the Holiday Season, Toy Boy!!! We would come home from school to watch Santa and Toy Boy. My brother, Jason, thought he could talk just like Toy Boy and it would drive me crazy. I plan on posting a few of them so we can all enjoy!!

Any Wii games. Surprise me, we are new to the Wii.


A Walking pedometer. Mine is no longer working. You can find them pretty cheap at Wal-Mart or Targets.

Gift Certificates are always a hit... These stores are my favorite, COACH, Von Maur, NORDSTROMS - HA HA HA!!!

Ok, I will go for Target, Kohls, or Penney's, or Borders.

The Boy is Five...

Let me just say that again... The Boy is FIVE!!!! Seriously? Think about that?! With all the chaos around here, we didn't do much for his big day this year. Very last minute, I did get his friends, Luke and Graham together and we headed to Chuck E. Cheese! There is nothing like going to Chuck E. Cheese first thing in the morning! We were the only ones there - makes it all worth it! The boys had a blast!!

We then made colorful cupcakes for him to take to school that day - they were all so excited about them. The teacher enjoyed them too - she turned them into some kind of lesson on colors, etc. What great fun!

We saved his 'party' for when we were in Wichita were Sean could join in the fun as well. Davis' favorite book that we read at least once a day is GREEN EGGS and HAM, so what is better than having green eggs and ham for his party?! The Boy was in heaven! He loved the eggs and ham! In fact, he keeps asking if we can leave green eggs and ham for Santa this year.

His big gifts this year? A remote contol car that drives me insane, a camera that also drives me insane as it does not have a big enough memory card and is full after 2-3 minutes of him taking pictures. He also loves his tools he got from his uncle Chad, and all the legos from uncle Jason. Not to mention all the wonderful small pieces of Ben 10 that came from NaNa and Gramps (just as bad as those Polly Pockets).

He is excited to be 5, and tells me he is ready for Kindergarden!

A Day at the Park

What a great place... The Sedgwick County Park. The weather was great for November, and this park was a blast! Sean and Chad went Trout fishing while Kailee, Davis, and myself met Melissa, Rylee, and Marshall at the playground:

Already this morning (at 8am), I have had my fair share of inner chuckles! Thought I would share a few of them:

Kailee woke up at 5 this morning (I think she was secretly excited about Cherry the Elf and where he would be - I will post pictures of it today).

She found that indeed, Cherry had moved and found the need to inform her brother at 5am! While Kailee is an early riser, Davis is not.

So, I come downstairs to find that Kaden had been fed, let outside, and Alex was also taken care of. Kailee asked her brother what he wanted for Breakfast AND she got it for him!!! I asked where all this sweet kindness came from today. Her response, "My link told me I had to today." (At church last night she put together links that are to be pulled apart one each day and do what it says 'til Christmas)

I went and read the link..."Be nice to somone you do not like" Oh, inner chuckle...

Davis is finally getting the nerve to talk to Cherry. I apologize, I will make sure and do a post about Cherry. He also noticed that Cherry had moved and is completely puzzled. When I came downstairs this morning, I was bombarded with questions.

Davis: "Mom, Cherry moved!" "Does this mean he went and talked to Santa?" "Am I going to get what I want?" "Mom, I didn't see Cherry get up and walk to this spot." "Mom, how did he walk up there?" "Mom, will he move again?" "Mom, I think I might say Good morning." And it went on and on... He saw something he wanted on a commercial and of course shouted, "I WANT THAT". I told him to tell Cherry. He got very quiet, tip toed over to him (he still stood back 6 feet) and wispered... "Cherry, could you tell Santa I would like that thing that flies on the t.v.?" and he RAN as fast as he could away from Cherry... Inner Chuckle...

Kailee was reading her links this morning, coming up in a few days she is to write a Christmas Card to an Eldery Neighbor.

Kailee: "Mom, what's eldery?"
Me: Old
Kailee: "Oh, can I just send a Card to NaNa since I don't know any OLD neighbors?"
Me: Inner Chuckle

Sounds like this is going to be a fun day...
